Thankfulness List With My Special Needs Child

Sometimes it’s easy to dwell on the difficult things we face as parents of children with disabilities. As David’s special needs have increased over the years, especially as his Dystonia has developed, life has become more complicated. And although it’s easy to focus on the negative, by God’s grace, I try to choose to focus on the positive things daily. Here are some of the things I’m thankful about on a regular basis. Hopefully it will spark your own daily thankfulness list:

A Thanksgiving Poem

I love finding Thanksgiving Poems! I found this one in my email inbox! It would certainly rank under true inspiring poems. I hope it blesses you and causes you to meditate on all that you have to be thankful but especially on the One in whom to give thanks!
A Thanksgiving Poem

Let us give thanks to God above,

Thanks for expressions of His love,

Seen in the book of nature, grand

Taught by His love on every hand.

Let us be thankful in our hearts,

Thankful for all … Continue Reading

The Secret To A Full Life

Here is a truly inspirational thought!

Are you looking for the fullest life? Does gratitude come by naturally for you?
Oftentimes is has to be learned. Sometimes learning requires practice – sometimes even mind-numbing practice.
“If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place of training and correction and it’s not so bad.” C.S. Lewis It might even be good!

The life of gratitude takes “every day training”.
Here are words straight from Ann Voskamp’s book, One … Continue Reading

One Thousand Gifts – A Dare To Live Fully Right Where You Are

Have you read any truly inspiring books lately?  I’m in the middle of one that is hard to put down!

About 2 weeks ago, my good friend, Len, who has gone through her own difficult circumstances, told me about a book her daughter had accidentally left at her house on her last visit. Len picked it up and started reading it.  She said she is now going through it for the second time.

Where to even begin! This is by no means a comprehensive review … Continue Reading

Inspiration Through Song – Blessings

Inspiration comes in different ways. This morning at church it came through a solo. I hope you are blessed and encouraged as much as I was!
Blessings
We pray for blessings: we pray for peace, comfort for family, protection while we sleep,
We pray for healing, for prosperity. We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering.
All the while, You hear each spoken need,
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things.

‘Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What … Continue Reading

The Game Of Spasms

Be inspired by this poem written by a woman with Dystonia.

The Game Of Spasms

by Sharon Mazurek

“My life in the game of spasms is like any game we play
I wake up in the morning and I always start to pray
Will the game that I choose to play today be easy like a toddler?
Or will that game I chose to play make my spasms feel tauter?

When we play a game of baseball
We always want to score
But in The game of spasms we might just be too sore

It does not really matter if win or lose the game
As long as we can walk … Continue Reading

Baxter The Therapy Dog

Do you know about Baxter? He was a 19 year old therapy dog that laid in bed with terminally ill patients and comforted them. I just saw the wonderful video about Baxter the Therapy Dog. I think it will bless and inspire you! Watch it and share it with others.

Have a wonderful day!

Things That Inspire

Do you often delete forwarded message in your inbox? I admit that I do. But once in a blue moon I go ahead and read one and usually am glad I did. That’s what happened the other day. My Uncle Jack, who doesn’t send emails very often, sent me a group message that looked like a forwarded message. I was just about to click the delete key but something made me stop and read his message. I’m so glad I did! In that little message was … Continue Reading
